Espionage offers state-of-the-art encryption and plausible deniability for your confidential data.

Sometimes, encrypting your data isn't enough to protect it. That's why Espionage 3 goes beyond data encryption. You can create multiple master passwords, each protecting an isolated set of folders. Every protected folder can also advertise completely different data, depending on whether it's locked or unlocked. Espionage 3 is also the most secure Espionage yet, featuring AES-256 encryption by default, and scrypt to protect your passwords from even the most powerful of adversaries.

It is now November 2021 and TaoEffect's Espionage is still available and the Knox product has been dropped by Agilebits the makers of 1Password. I had/have licenses to both products. I wouldn't have guessed this outcome or a lot of others I have seen in the last 4+ years. That said, it looks like 4+ years later TaoEffect is still a current updated product. This of course could easily change, but that is true of any of the s/w vendors albeit less likely for some than for others in our opinons at least.

Before I rely on a company to encrypt my data, the one problem I have is will that company be there 10 years from now? Will their software still be compatible with Mac OS 10.22? Or is this a fly by night company that will leave your data suddenly unusable years from now? I don't know yet. So I'm standing pat and watching this company. Does Espionage allow you to manage Sparse Encrypted Disk Images like Knox does? I would be very interested and probably buy it if it did. If the company croaks, at least Mac OS can decrypt the disk images.

A rather innocent and stupid question: I am using espionage 3 to encrypt my sensible data. When i am backing up my data with time machine, the encrypted espionage folders are not backed up like the rest of my non-encrypted-folders... Right? How can i include my espionage folders in the time-machine-backup on my mac? Thanks

Looks like nice software, but... no support for encrypted folders on network volumes. Most of my data resides on a centralised shared network, so cannot use Espionage for it... If it would have supported any volume, I might purchase a license.
